Parent Aide Program
National Exchange Club Foundation's Parent Aide Program
The Parent Aide program offers support and assistance to parents who are experiencing challenges in raising their children. Parent Aides are trained, professionally supervised individuals, who assist parents under stress and those whose children may be at risk of abuse or neglect. The Parent Aide provides this assistance in the comfortable and familiar surroundings of the families home by developing a trusting relationship with the parent and by being a positive and supportive role model. Parent Aides provide assistance with daily tasks such as finding transportation, budget planning, exploring child care options, household management, dealing with professionals and emergency needs. Parent Aides help parents learn to meet their children’s needs, which ultimately strengthens the family unit and results in parents feeling more confident, relaxed and becoming more involved in their families’ lives by building positive family ties and natural community supports. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The effects of child abuse cannot always be seen. It does not always leave a physical bruise; it can be subtle and last a lifetime. Many parents need help dealing with today’s challenges of raising children. Through education from The Exchange Club Yellow Umbrella Child Abuse Prevention Center (CAP), parents can find pathways to a more positive family experience. Parents are guided in this journey showing them loving and affirmative ways to parent. Since 1988, over 91,000 parents and children have benefited from our programs; programs available to anyone who seeks a stronger parent-child connection.
